What Are the Ongoing Successful Projects in the GEZ?

27 Apr 2026

Currently, there are two ongoing projects showing success in the GEZ: the EPA Brownfields Coalition Grant and the Northern Waterfront Priority Production Areas Technical Assistance Project.

The EPA Brownfields Coalition Grant: Contra Costa County in partnership with the cities of Antioch, Pinole, and Martinez was awarded a $1.2 million grant in 2025, to perform site assessments within each community. These site assessments are the first steps to cleaning up and breathing new life into once contaminated land.

The Northern Waterfront Priority Production Areas (PPAs) Technical Assistance Project supports planning and infrastructure in the new PPAs of the Northern Waterfront, which in turn create capacity to add jobs and spur economic growth.

More Successful Projects on the Way in the GEZ

The GEZ builds upon the comparative advantage provided by the regional concentration of highly skilled energy industry workers, by prioritizing access to tax incentives, grants, loan programs, workforce training programs, and private sector investment in the renewable energy sector.
